One of my biggest roles as your wellness coach is to weed through the information overload, and supply you with strategies that work. I want to eliminate the guesswork as times change and approaches adapt. One way I can do that is by unpacking new trends within health and wellness so you don’t have to!
Let’s dive in together.
Strength training takes the cake
Group classes are a great way to diversify your routine, but I’ve worked with enough women now to know that these are probably hindering your progress more than helping.
Think about it - these workouts are written for 5-30+ people.
Not just you.
When that is the case, your goals aren’t taken into consideration when the workouts are made; they are going to try and just make it easy for everyone to participate.
Their goal is: ease of flow in the class.
Not your goals.
I love implementing new classes on one of my three active rest days a week, but i have a coach who programs my four strength-training workouts per week, so that each minute I spend in the gym is effective. Each rep, set, exercise, rest, tempo, and more is written to get me personally closer to my goals.
Imagine how much less time it will take to reach your goals when you have something that is written personally for you.
Online vs in-person
The pandemic not only has most people craving in-person connection more than ever, but it also has online coaches wildly on the rise.
Now more than ever is it important to do your research when looking to invest into a coach, but also when deciding if you are wanting an online coach or one in-person.
Fortunately, online coaching is the best of both worlds (especially in totality😉) because you’re not only able to get your hands on a workout program that is written for you, your body, your schedule, and your goals, but you are also going to get customized nutrition support along with accountability; without investing your entire paycheck.
Something most people don’t realize about in-person coaching is that you pay per hour of coaching. If you were to sign up for 4 coaching sessions a week, you’re looking at ~$1000+ for just workouts. you don’t receive any support with nutrition or on the day-to-day when faced with hard decisions and in-the-moment struggles.
With online coaching, you not only get a workout program written for you, but also hands-on nutrition coaching plus customized support to help you understand what you need to eat and how much in order to reach your goals. Everything is individualized to you, and you’ll also get accountability and support in real time.
The best part?
You’re not spending $1,000+ per month,
and you’re getting way more
To reach your goals In less time!
WEIGHT LOSS DRUG BUZZ
With the rise of ozempic/semiglutide, trulicity, and more, the promising benefits of weight loss seem promising and tempting! Originally created to treat type 2 diabetes, these have quickly turned into the craze for their aid in weight loss.
There are; however, many cons to jumping into medications such as these, that they aren’t talking about.
The reason they are causing weight loss is because they slow gastric emptying (a fancy way of saying it takes longer for your food to digest, so you don’t eat as much food). food isn’t mean to sit in your gut and this is causing a lot of digestive issues in these patients. I’ve also worked with a few, unfortunately that are now struggling with digestive disruption and more that all have stemmed from the timeline of starting one of these medications.
Eating less isn’t always good for your goals. When you are feeling full, you aren’t going to be craving protein and fiber-rich foods. You are craving the easy, yummy stuff. This is also leading to muscle-loss within these patients as they aren’t eating enough to maintain their muscle - not fat-loss.
